Saudi Kayan is the largest affiliate of SABIC in Saudi Arabia, operating 13 plants producing 5.5 million tons of petrochemical products annually.Lead a debottlenecking project aimed at increasing Olefins plant capacity by 287 KTA. Approve project design basis, Process Design Package, FEED, and Detailed Engineering documents. Validate instrumentation, piping size, and pump hydraulic calculations. Apply international standards in all aspects of project design and fulfillment. Update control philosophy and Protective Electronic Safety Systems for optimal performance. Strategize for efficient project operations, promoting productive collaborations between Saudi Kayan and project teams. Conduct all pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and performance test runs.Selected Contributions:● Executed an efficient project schedule to cut FEED time down from 20 to 9 weeks.● Saved over $1.1 million and minimized project capital cost through alternative project modifications and optimization of spare parts.● Evaluated existing shutdown schedule and implemented a strategic execution plan, decreasing shutdown by 13 days.● Produced savings of $425,000 and completed a project within 7 days (21 days less than previous installations) through design of a 100m3/h temporary waste water facility, negotiations for technical and commercial offers, and leadership throughout the installation process

Led process optimization efforts for Saudi Kayan's largest plant with an annual production of 2.05 million tons. Directed KPI implementation, process troubleshooting, new catalyst assessments, catalyst loading activities, and partnerships with licensors and R&D to identify potential enhancements. Ensured process safety by contributing to HAZOP & SIL studies, risk assessments, Pre-Safety Start Up Reviews, and Management of Change process. Led a multidisciplinary team to complete major turnarounds on schedule.Selected Contributions:● Installed monitoring tools to improve operations and increase the mean time between catalyst regenerations from 2 to 6 months, producing a more reliable and long-lasting benzene unit.● Played a significant role in the planning and execution of 4 major turnarounds; oversaw unloading and loading of over 14 reactors.● Selected to contribute to a special high-level RCA study aiming to identify a process problem in Olefins and LDPE, isolate root causes, recommend solutions, and determine High Value Lessons Learned.● Led benzene unit performance tests to identify bottlenecks, developing action plans to correct them.

Oversaw day-to-day operations for a plant producing 770,000 tons annually and feeding into 3 downstream plants, including planning and execution of turnarounds, collaboration with licensor and operation to determine areas of improvement, risk analysis and management of change process, and equipment/catalyst performance assessment. Within role as sustainability engineer, defined KPIs and implemented tools to measure them, drafted monthly reports for management, and drove sustainability awareness efforts across Saudi Kayan.Selected Contributions:● Nominated within the first 6 months to lead the catalyst team. Duties included liaising with senior manager to identify poisons to catalysts, monitoring catalyst performance, producing monthly reports for management review, and suggesting alternatives to current catalysts.● Developed a model designed to improve an MEG quality, featured at SABIC's bi-annual global technical conference.● Selected as a member of the sustainability steering committee, reporting to the Technical Division General Manager.
