Copenhagen Area, Denmark

For my fourth and final placement on the IMI Graduate scheme, I split time between our Copenhagen and Birmingham offices. My role encompassed many commercial objectives, with the following projects:-Defining a CRM roadmap for the business based on employee feedback-Coordinating launch of the Nordic version of the IMI Norgren Express App-Identifying and developing a strategy to grow eCommerce in the Nordic region-Improving engagement with lead generation software-Support integration of lead generation software into the CRM software-Coordinate commission and design of an OTD tracking tool-Support a new onboarding program, by reviewing product training, constructing practical training kits as well as performing a live demonstration to the CEO, divisional managing directors and other senior directors

Over two years, I undertook placements as an IMI Precision graduate trainee, in a variety of locations and business areas. These included procurement, technical, marketing and manufacturing.

Leeds

As part of my 2 years on the IMI Graduate Scheme, I undertook my third placement in Leeds, the Development department. My projects included the following themes:- Feasibility investigations as part of new product development.- Validation of post-production design changes- Health and safety- Lean, 5s, cardboard engineering- Product performance benchmarking- Support of IMI Precision graduate scheme

Fradley, Staffordshire, United Kingdom

As part of my 2 years on the IMI Graduate Scheme, I undertook my second placement at IMI Precision Fradley, in production engineering. As part of the company's lean journey I worked on projects with the following themes:- Implementing a centralised kitting area suitable for the assembly area of the factory, allowing for improved production planning and visual management. Development of this project was facilitated by key lean techniques such as kaizen, value stream mapping and string diagrams.- Rationalisation of supplier kanbans in order to ensure that shop floor space was optimised for material flow.- Overhaul of factory labelling process, by purchasing new, state of the art printers with software to match. Future flexibility with MRP software was considered.- Specification of new medical clean room manufacturing equipment, with due considerations made to relevant standards, site services and fit, customer support and validation.- Redesign of material presentation on an assembly station, in order to provide benefits to health and safety, assembly ergonomics and poka yoke.

Between September 2015 and March 2016 I undertook my first graduate placement as part of the IMI Graduate Scheme, working in procurement project management. I also took on a sub project in shop floor quality. A brief overview of some key projects is below:- Coordiation of purchase of a new tool, managing drawing revisions to control all required modifications to change a part from being plastic moulded to cast.- Supplier development via risk mitigation through partnership agreements.- Successful redesign, overhaul and implementation of a shop floor documentation procedure.- Management of tooling transfers.- Purchasing of replacement tools in order to generate cost downs and improve quality- Supplier transfer of turned parts- Coordination of modifications to tooling in order to provide a quality benefit as well as allowing an upgrade from a single cavity to a dual cavity.- Ongoing development of tooling database and supplier loan contracts.
