Civil Military Cooperation And Media Affairs OfficerJamaica Defence Force Jun 2009 - May 2021Kingston, JamaicaI was recruited as Second-in-Command of the Force's Public Affairs department to help develop, grow and lead the Force’s communications team. In less than a year, I gained rapid promotion due to my strong performance and results, and was appointed Head of Department to build, establish and lead the Force's strategic communications vision and restructure its communications mechanisms. Under my leadership, the JDF's communications machinery effectively protected and enhanced the JDF brand and its reputation, and helped the Force to achieve the highest public approval ranking (68%) among all public institutions for respect, confidence, credibility and trust. In 2017, I lead a communications team in developing and executing the national communications plan to generate awareness, understanding and support of the inaugural Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) security framework. The communications plan led to a 75% national public approval rating within months.I also directed the communications team responsible for launching and promoting the Jamaica National Service Corp program, aimed at providing at-risk/unattached youth with marketable skills and qualifications. The successful promotion led to a record 6000 applicants and helped the program receive the Radio Jamaica/Gleaner National Award for Innovation in Education, January 2019. I also developed strategies for community outreach programs which were key to the formulation of budgets that enabled minimal human and financial resources yet achieved intended objectives and effects.
