Together with the Deputy Director for Rail Licensing (RL), I help to oversee and manage a Division of 10 people. RL is the regulator for Rail services in Singapore. The portfolio covers the following areas 1) Being the custodian of the License that allows the Public Transport Operators (PTOs) to operate Rail lines in Singapore. The License covers all aspects of the operations of the Rail lines, from the trains to the Rail facilities and to the use of commercial spaces 2) Enforcing the Operating Performance Standards that all PTOs must minimally meet in the course of their operation of the Rail service 3) Manning the secretariat for the LTA-PTO Joint Team which meets monthly to look into solving a variety of different Rail reliability and performance issues 4) Lead the information section whose primary duties are the update of management reports, supporting corporate comms on various external queries, handling parliamentary questions, handling requests for information from MOT and the management of existing and the development of new information sources

I managed a section of 6 data analysts in the Division of Public Transport Quality which was the regulator for bus services in Singapore. The duties included 1) Study complex scenarios and recommend solutions 2) Compile, analyse and report information necessary to understand the bus service’s operational specifications for Singapore’s first national bus tender 3) Lead/Supported projects for the development of new bus monitoring and information systems 4) Lead research into new frameworks, technologies and indicators to enhance the division’s regulatory capabilitie. Won the Top Prize in the LTA Staff Suggestion Scheme for the development of a geographical heat-map of bus crowdedness that helped in the visualisation and monitoring of the Bus Services Enhancement Programme.

I was responsible for leading a small team of IT professionals to support the hardware and software requirements of the Engineering Division. This included overseeing IT operations and new software projects as well as coaching staff in our in-house and commercially acquired software. My responsibilities included:- Overseeing IT operations for the Engineering Division including server setup and maintenance, client PC maintenance and software support for both in-house and commercial projects.- Management of a small team of IT staff.- Web-based application development for new software projects arising from business needs.- Coaching new staff on in-house projects.

Six months contract to help develop a runner registration system. The system was to support the main awareness and fund raising event for the VWO called the “Milk” Run. Project was successfully accomplished and delivered.

Worked as an analyst programmer for this software consultancy. Primary clients were Fujitsu PC Asia Pacific and Drug Houses of Australia. Main areas of work were in database design and development as well as customised web-based application development. Supported the consultant in the programming of the required modules.
