After having participated, enjoyed and learned so much from the NLJUG conferences, co-developers, Masters of Java and Java Magazine for several years (both as a Developer and as a company) I’m finally able to do something back for the NLJUG community as Community Developer.The first goal is to start building the NLJUG Academy: an NLJUG initiative to close the gap between business and education by helping schools connect with the collective knowledge and experience of our community. The NLJUG Academy wants to expand our Java community to students & educators by coordinating guest lectures given by "our" speakers and Business Partners. By sharing what (cool stuff) we do we hope to welcome more students and teachers at NLJUG conferences and for them to be part of our community. By opening the dialogue with schools on where software development is headed and giving guest lectures the NLJUG Academy strives for making an impact on the developer programs in the Netherlands.

IVS Next project for RWS aims at delivering a SOA event based application landscape for Rijkswaterstaat, for managing traffic along the Dutch main waterways. The application landscape must provide a modular replacement of the current monolithic end of life waterway traffic management application IVS90.Working in one of two Scrum teams within a professional development environment: DevOps with a continuous delivery pipeline from the ICTU all the way to the Rijkswaterstaat Production environment.The techniques used are Docker, Java8, Angular2, Typescript, JBoss EAP 6.4, Spring4, Hibernate4/JPA2, Maven3, Jenkins, Groovy, JSON/REST, Jersey, Linux. The project relies heavily on containerization using Docker.

The advanced Applications division of Invensys is in charge of developing the Refinery Off-Sites Management Solution Suite – the “Off-Sites Suite”. This software package consists of several modules designed to manage refineries for large multi-nationals in the petrochemical industry.For a SATORP project in Saudi Arabia, several interfaces needed to be built to enable both the Off-Sites Suite and the software solution(s) of SATORP to communicate. This communication is vital for the operations on the almost finished plant in Saudi Arabia. Responsibilities: • Technical responsibility for the project (Invensys' side) • Leading the development team in Baarn (Invensys) • Communication with the team in Saudi Arabia • Oversee testing and registration of the results • The drafting of Detailed Design Specifications • (Partly) implementing the specification • Attend and participate in meetings for the technical aspects of the project (both in Baarn and Saudi Arabia).
