Basma Albanna is a lecturer at the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Ain Shams University. She received her Ph.D. degree in Development Policy and Management from the University of Manchester. Her doctoral research explored the possibility of leveraging big data sources to identify individuals or communities who are able to achieve better outcomes than their peers - despite having similar resources and challenges - in order to analyze and disseminate their underlying practices and strategies. She is a founding member and the method lead in the Data-Powered Positive Deviance initiative that is aiming at applying and scaling this method in different domains and countries. She has more than 14 years of experience in innovation management, data-driven development, and social entrepreneurship. Basma holds two Master’s degrees, one in computer science, and the other in the management of technology.
