My focus in the first two years was on the technical side of the service offering. I acquired fair knowledge in data collection techniques, data organization & analysis, database management, structured query language (SQL), communication network architecture & management, inventory management, GIS technology, requirement analysis & software configuration practices. As I gained more experience my non-technical functions expanded as well. This meant early team management responsibilities & challenges, becoming an authorized instructor delivering vendor trainings to clients worldwide, evaluating RFPs and developing winning proposals, contributing to company marketing and website content, participating in pre-sales activities, preparing presentations & communicating with clients. By year six I moved from execution of operations to operations and projects management. Working as a project manager on enterprise scale software implementation projects for giants in the ICT industry like Saudi Aramco and Hong Kong Telecom was no easy task but it was most definitely rewarding. Successfully tackling challenges like unrealistic customer expectations, explosion of project scope, management of distributed teams, risk factoring and delays, change management, and many other challenges gave me a solid base to take on complex projects with confidence.
