I am head of the coastal engineering and water management department at BAM Infraconsult / DMC. As coastal/water management engineers at BAM/DMC we strive to be leading in design and engineering. To achieve this we are extensively involved in Research, Development and Innovation. In Research and Development we cooperate with Delft University by defining research subjects and coaching graduation students. We have our own physical model testing laboratory which we use for research and design and use state of the art softwareWe have introduced the Xbloc and XblocPlus breakwater armour units and the BoxBarrier temporary flood defense system. I am the main-inventor of the Xbloc and main-inventor of the BoxBarrier. Together with GMB, Kennisalliantie, Stowa and TU Delft we developed FloodProof Holland in Delft; a demonstration and test site for flood defence systems. We are working on Ecobeach, a vertical beach drainage system. In 2018 we introduced XblocPlus, a concrete armour unit for uniform placement. This armour unit is applied by the Levvel consortium (BAM, van Oord, Rebbel) to strengthen the more than 30 km long Afsluitdijk in the Netherlands Specialties: Coastal Engineering, Water Management, breakwater design, offshore engineering, metocean studies, port and harbour design, storm surge barriers, river engineering, dike design, coastal protection.
