Providing strategic advice and guidance to a range of clients across public and private sector in the realm of sustainable rural development, covering subjects related to water resources management, integrated landscape management, agri supply chain management, ecological farming, community participation and program management.

HIROS is an international four-year research project co-funded by the governments of The Netherlands (NWO) and India (DST) assessing the environmental impact of agricultural practices on the surface and groundwater resources of the Hindon basin (Indo-Gangetic Plain) and developing mitigating pathways. Partners include Wageningen University, TU-Delft, IrriWatch, IISc Bangalore, IIT-Roorkee, ICAR-CSSRI, DCM Shriram and Jain Irrigation Systems.

The assignment involves the introduction of remote sensing technology that allows for measuring real-time soil moisture and crop water requirement in the Kundalia Irrigation Project, MP, India, through integration in the OMS and capacity building at field level. The pilot project is unique in its endeavour to move from supply-side to demand-side water resources management in large-scale irrigaton schemes, thereby optimizing water use efficiencies and crop water productivity.

The mission of the IFC/World Bank Group-managed 2030 WRG initiative is to help countries achieve water security by 2030 by facilitating collective action on water. At the request of local governments, 2030 WRG creates constructive, open and sustained convening platforms for public, private, and civil society stakeholders. At these neutral places, stakeholders can collectively identify and agree on priorities and activities to improve water resources management. As Co-Head Asia, I launched three successful platforms in India (Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh), partnered with India Central Government of India (MoWR) on a range of strategic water resources issued, led the Agri-Water Workstream of the Bangladesh Platform, and assessed opportunities for establishing new platforms in China and Vietnam.

Initiated and led the South Asia Water Program for the IFC: advised a range of clients in India including National Planning Commission, Tata Group of Companies, Jain Irrigation Systems, IKEA, C&A, Mahindra & Mahindra and others on water sustainability and water resources management; conceptualized and developed the flagship Partnership for Cleaner Textile (PaCT) program in Bangladesh with a group of eight leading global apparel companies (H&M, C&A, Inditex et al), along with Solidaridad, Netherlands Embassy and BGMEA.
