Through clerking for the Collegiate Sports Practice Group, my research included a focus on legislative changes in Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) Legislation. I compiled data from State Legislatures to gather elements of Name, Image, and Likeness Legislation to assist in developing anticipated changes to NCAA Legislation, which later passed in the NCAA on July 1, 2021. In order to keep the firm informed on recent changes or important legislative considerations, I briefed hundreds of examples of judicial precedent on Antitrust Law and NCAA Legislation on the compensation of student-athletes. In the development of new legislation, I delivered effective, precise memorandums on related issues to changes in NCAA Legislation, such as the impact on high school athletes. As the world of college sports is evolving around NIL Legislation, this role offered me a front row seat to one of the biggest legislative changes in industry history. Show less

Although I no longer focus on environmental policy, I worked to manage the government relations for Carbon Sequestration, Inc., a company that aims to reduce carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere using a new form of carbon sequestration, known as sequestration via wood burial as an undergraduate student. Using the connections and resources that I developed during my time on Capitol Hill, I built relationships with stakeholders, such as elected officials and potential investors. Environmental policy, and especially the development of new methodology, requires intensive research. I spearheaded policy research that directly impacts carbon sequestration activity in the United States. Just as with any project that requires government approval, cutting through the red tape can be frustrating and exhausting. However, I was able to efficiently draft incorporation documents and various methodology approval forms to be submitted to different agencies and policy groups. Although this project ultimately died in the methodology approval process, the world of environmental policy and carbon sequestration is constantly evolving. This company is still operating and working with scientists around the world to earn EPA approval. Show less
