I am an independent bookseller and my professional life is rooted in my personal history. I made a conscious decision to step away from a lucrative corporate job and take forward the legacy of my forefathers: the love for books, and creating spaces where they may be celebrated in their full glory. Here are four things about me.> 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝-𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫:I was born into a family that owns an independent bookstore - Rajat Book Corner. The first bookstore was opened in 1952 in Amritsar, and thereafter a branch in Jaipur in 1992. Thankfully, I also took to books and inherited not only the business but all the passion and love that comes with it. Having grown up in a bookstore, I have lovingly lived the conversations that remain unique to an independent bookstore. I love people who love books. > 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:I have curated more than 200 independent author sessions in over 25 cities in India. It is a blessing to read books and the effect multiplies when we get an opportunity to interact with authors we read and learn from. I bring authors and readers together through books. Literally! Tiny Dhillon, to name a few. > 𝐂𝐨-𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 2-𝐏𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛:Reading a book is a solitary affair, but discussing perspectives on the same book takes the learning (and even the entertainment) a notch higher. With this in mind, I started the 2-Pages Book Club to bring readers from Jaipur together to bond over their shared love of reading and books.> 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐬:I’ve connected authors to readers all my life up till now, and with this agency, I am taking it a notch higher. We proudly represent Mr. Parikshat Sahni, Mrs. Medha Deshmukh Bhaskaran, Mr. Surjit Banerjee, Mrs. Nidhi Vadhera, and Mr. Ankur Mehra, to name a few. I believe the solitary act of reading has the power to change but when done collectively, it becomes a celebration. I love connecting good books to good people (and the other way around).
