What are 3 things that would sum me up? Strong Leader. Picky Eater. Engaged Workaholic. I picked these because it combines exactly what some people would say to describe me and what I consider my strongest characteristics. Let me explain:When I became a team manager, it solidified for me what I am supposed to do with my career: develop teams of talent and expand on a culture of working together. I recently read, “How Will You Measure Your Life” by Clayton Christenson and in it he said “Management is the most noble of professions if it’s practiced well. No other occupation offers as many ways to help others learn and grow, take responsibility and be recognized, and contribute to the success of the team.” This is what I remember when I walk into work every morning. Now, picky eater may throw you a bit, because who advertises this on their LinkedIn page? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve received a strange look when I say, “I don’t eat seafood and yes, I grew up in Kennebunkport, ME.” But what is interesting is this one fact about me can connect a table of seven at a business dinner to talk about the same thing for hours. They collaborate on testing me, daring me, or even comparing themselves to me. It is always interesting to bring a connector to the “table.”Lastly, yes, I admit to being a workaholic. Don’t get me wrong, I am a big family person and will drop anything for my family. I pride myself on being there when it counts, but if you were to ask me what my hobby is, it is my work. I’m in Marketing because I love it. I enjoy developing a strategic plan that effects the success of a business, I enjoy measuring results to see how we can make it better, and I enjoy being creative with the design of a piece and the content that it centers around. So, the bottom line to all of this is that I am a strong, engaged, picky eating, workaholic leader.
