In my role as Program Director I had the unique opportunity to manage events, programming and communications for the Minnesota Newspaper Association (MNA). MNA and and its nonprofit the Minnesota News Media Institute host regular training workshops, led by industry experts on a variety of subjects, the annual Editors & Publishers Community Leadership Program and the MNA Convention, which attracts more that 700 attendees annually. I was the editor of the weekly MNA Bulletin newsletter and webmaster and editor of www.mna.org. I also managed MNA's social media presence.

I served as co-chair and member of a 12-woman advisory board that coordinates the Leaders of Today and Tomorrow Program (LOTT). I continue to volunteer as as a guest speaker and mentor to the program, as needed.The LOTT Fellows Program challenges college-aged and emerging professional women to see their role in furthering women's leadership in all sectors of society. LOTT fellows are challenged to envision themselves as current leaders and plan for future leadership opportunities. I served on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota Society of Professional Journalists from 2006-2015. In June 2010, I was elected president and served a full term, ending in May 2011. During my tenure on the board, I also served as its secretary and contest chair.At the national level, I've served as chair of the Membership Committee and co-chair of the Awards and Honors Committee. The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), the oldest, largest and broadest-based organization of journalists in the U.S., was founded as Sigma Delta Chi in 1909. The Minnesota Chapter was founded in 1956. The chapter membership totals about 160. In 1998, the Minnesota Pro chapter was named national large chapter of the year.

Managed all aspects of the organization, including directing all operational, communications and marketing efforts. Acted as the organization's spokesperson. Spoke regularly in journalism, civics and communications classes at the collegiate and high school level; presented at journalism conferences.

Selected in November 2006 to become organization’s interim director, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization including the supervision of staff and more than 30 volunteers

Planned and executed all marketing and communications output for a Minneapolis-based technology company.

Responsible for coordinating all operations, including website design and maintenance, management of monthly financials, event coordination, staff payroll, database management and general office management. Developed and implemented operations policies and procedures.
