About Chris Baume

I've worked at the forefront of audio technology for over 15 years. At the BBC, I co-led the audio research group where I developed AI-assisted tools for producing personalised and immersive listening experiences. I managed the BBC Audio Research Partnership, which sponsored over thirty students and launched ten collaborative projects worth £30M. I've been co-investigator on the AI4ME project on personalised media, and the EU project ORPHEUS on object-based audio. In 2015, I founded the annual conference Sounds Amazing, and was later an executive producer. I earned my PhD at the University of Surrey's renowned CVSSP research centre. In 2022, I founded Sonic Baume as a way to improve people's lives using innovative audio products.
