I assist in defining the scope of a project, the necessary architecture, and the key stakeholders (often with their KPIs), as well as determining the necessary team and skills to successfully complete the project.The project itself is always approached with a SQL-minded strategy. I consider myself a "Jack of all trades," finding motivation in Data Engineering, Data Analytics, and BI project management. Given a choice in assembling my team, I prefer to lead and oversee the scope, while also handling the engineering work myself or delegating it to someone with a similar SQL mindset. I would then outsource the reporting and analytics work because there is a larger pool of data enthusiasts in that area who are often much more creative than I am.

After a thorough analysis of the customer's infrastructure and wishes, we start the development of a tailor-made Data Warehouse using SSIS (On premise) or Azure Data Factory (Cloud).In Azure DevOps we work in team using all the available Agile practices of the Azure Boards. We also use Azure Repos for releasing new updates and as our main source control tool. The biggest part of my job at ideeds is to develop a good design for the ETL and Data Warehouse of our partner. Often we guide them towards 'self-service BI' and we learn them how to properly work with Power BI or Qlik Sense by providing them clean datasets/datamarts of the Data Warehouse.

As BI consultant I introduced our partners with the analytical possibilities behind the ERP-software and their data. Making analytical dashboards or simplifying monthly generated Excel-sheets with Qlik Sense Enterprise. Furthermore I was also responsible for some of the more technical solutions, i.e. programming. With the knowledge of the ERP-software, the BI-software and .NET (C#) I was able to provide automation or extensions for our partners that was not included in the standard of the system, but was close in line with the partner’s wishes.
