About Benjamin T. Backus

I am the Chief Science Officer at Vivid Vision, where I work with an outstanding team of entrepreneurs, software engineers, clinicians, professionals, and academic collaborators to build new tests and treatments for people with vision problems. I love working on real-world problems. I bring to bear 25 years of university research experience. My research focuses on perception—how people see—with special attention to binocular vision. It has been funded by the NIH, NSF, HFSP, the State University of New York, and the University of Pennsylvania. My primary research tool is psychophysics, understanding how people see through scientific measurement of their visual abilities.
