CEO began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s. In 1996, CEO became an independent 501c3 non-profit organization, providing comprehensive employment services to people newly released from New York State prisons and detention facilities. Since then, we have expanded to 30 cities across 11 states. Through our proven model, CEO has made more than 34,000 unsubsidized job placements with more than 4,000 employers throughout the country.

Construction Connections is an eight-week Pre Apprenticeship Training Program designed to prepare participants for a career in the construction industry. The program is a collaboration between the Urban League of Greater Cincinnati and Allied Construction Industries and focuses on soft skill development as well as technical instruction. Upon completion of the 172-hour program, each student is equipped with; National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Core Curriculum Certification, Registration into NCCER’s National Registry, Bobcat Certification, and OSHA 10. This program is funded by the Ohio Department of Transportation. Note: Many program participants are unemployed, under employed or hard to employ (returning citizens).Responsibilities• Recruit trainees, interview, assess and determine eligibility, enroll individuals into Construction Connections Program.• Provide administrative support services, ongoing case management, job placement assistance and follow-ups.• Oversee visits to the Suit Yourself Gentleman’s Clothing Closet to fit program participants with business attire for interviewing.• Foster relationships with construction companies to help educate hiring managers on the importance of employing “hard to hires”as well as “returning citizens” to support their efforts in becoming contributing members of society which in turn reduces recidivism.• Assist the Vice President in the execution of all marketing events and the recruitment of construction employers.Accomplishments• Enrolled 45 candidates with 44 individuals completing the eight-week Pre Apprenticeship Training obtaining their NCCER Core,Bobcat Skid Steer, and OSHA 10 Certifications.• 30 of the graduates have obtained employment with an additional 10 accepted into State of Ohio Registered Apprenticeship Programs.• 7 of 40 employed graduates are working with ODOT contractors.

Reported accidents or other safety situations to dispatch and / or management.
