I also handled the sale of pharma grade/specialty sugar to various pharma units including Ranbaxy, Glenmark, Plethico, Nectar Life Science and food manufacturing units: DSG, GSK, Rasna, Raptakos, Sterling Agro.

Stellar years in Sales and Marketing: 2000-2010; 2012-2015.I achieved excellent outcomes in sales and marketing of caustic soda, chlorine, hydrogen, bleaching powder, hydrochloric acid, sodium hypochlorite. Sales accelerated from Rs 150 crores to Rs 250 crores. I developed systems to monitor and control receivables, recover bad debts from dealers and customers, and kept contributions/profits at positive levels despite increase in power and input costs.As an executive committee member of the Alkali Manufacturer's Association of India from 2005-2008 and 2014-15, I represented Siel Chemical Complex.

Business Development/Executive Role: 1998-2000.I headed Environment and Safety for the Siel Chemical Complex. I partnered with small and medium scale entrepreneurs to set up downstream Chlorinated Parrafin (CPW) units, and a Bottled Hydrogen Unit adjoining the Siel Chemical Complex.

Going International: 1995-98.I played a pivotal role in arranging for the import of $21 million of second hand caustic soda/chlorine from Elf Atochem, Tacoma, USA. I visited Manchester (UK) to acquire membrane cell technology from ICI UK (now Ineos Chlor), and collaborated with Elf Atochem, Tacoma to arrange for the dismantling and shipment of plant, machinery and equipment to India.National Liaisons: I liaised with the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers and the Ministry of Industry & Commerce to obtain an import license through the Project Imports and Zero Duty EPCG (Export Promotion Capital Goods) schemes. I obtained a customs clearance for plant and machinery received at JNPT and Mumbai Ports through the EPCG licence, and arranged its transportation to Rajpura. I set up various sections of the Caustic Soda plant at Siel Chemical Complex, Rajpura

A Projects Expert for the next 3 years: 1992-1994My projects included: Site surveys in different states, Site selection, Land acquisition. I mastered the process of obtaining government approvals and licenses. I successfully obtained data for Environment Impact Assessment, got Environment and Pollution clearances and factory licences from Central and State Govt agencies. A key success - I was instrumental in selecting 1000 acres of land in Rajpura, Punjab for Siel Industrial Estate’s Chlor-Alkali project, and signing an MOU with the Govt. of Punjab.

The Beginning: 1979-1991For the first 12 years, I oversaw production, process control, and maintenance of the Chlor-Alkali Plant of DCM Chemical Works in Delhi. After independently handling the Brine section, I rose to lead the Cell House and Chlorine House operations. In 1986, I used dbase/Foxbase software to develop a module to implement cell replacement and maintenance activity in the Diaphragm Cell Plant
