I’m a licensed airman certificated by the FAA. Dispatchers have joint responsibility with the PIC for the safety & operational control of flights. Authorizes, regulates, & controls commercial airline flights according to government/company regulations to expedite & ensure safety of flight. Responsible for economics, passenger service, & operational control of day to day flight ops. Dispatcher analyzes/evaluates meteorological information to determine potential hazards to safety of flight & to select the most desirable and economic route of flight (winds aloft). Dispatcher computes the amount of fuel required for the safe completion of flight according to type of aircraft, distance of flight, MX limitations, WX conditions, & minimum fuel requirements, prescribed by FARs. Dispatcher prepares flight plans containing information such as maximum allowable takeoff and landing weights, weather reports, field conditions, NOTAMS, performance numbers, routing, weather/turbulence enroute, & many other informational components required for the safe completion of flight. Prepares/signs the dispatch release which is the legal document providing authorization for a flight to depart. Dispatcher delays or cancels flights if unsafe conditions threaten the safety of the aircraft or pax. Monitors weather conditions, aircraft position reports, & aeronautical navigation charts to evaluate the progress of flight. Updates the PIC of significant changes to weather or flight plan & recommends flight plan alternates, such as changing course, altitude & diverting in the interest of safety. Dispatchers have undergone extensive training having passed both an extensive oral examination & the Dispatch ADX test, administered by the FAA. These tests are equivalent to the Air Transport Pilot (ATP).

This licensed position requires working closely with pilots and all departments in the OCC (Flight Dispatcher & ATC Weather Coordinator)• Ensure the safe and legal coordination of all scheduled flights for Flexjet/Flight Options, LLC.• Real-time meteorological decision-making, route and altitude selection, fuel load requirements, weight and balance, aircraft legality (MEL), comply with all FAA regulations, provide required trip briefings in accordance with SOP guidelines, provide economic benefits by routing flights for fuel load efficiency.• Oversee planning and coordination of domestic/international flights, including handling, slots, fuel requests, parking, ground transportation, hotel arrangements, APIS and GenDec.• Create daily weather briefings for the entire operation as well as focusing on unique weather events (Hurricanes/Major Snow Events/Forest Fires/Tornadoes/Turbulence/Volcanic Ash, etc).• Monitor status of the National Airspace System (NAS), including Ground Delay Programs (GDP), Airspace Flow Programs (AFP), other Traffic Management Initiatives (TMI) and airport closures.• Communicate with FAA/ATC, NBAA, ARTCCs, and use FSM software for Expect Departure Clearance Times (EDCTs) and other timely flight information.
