Calibration of the fluorescence detectors of the Pierre Auger Observatory using a large diameter calibrated light source, see publications below. Calibration includes a single UV wavelength at 365nm, and a multi-wavelength measurement of the detector efficiency across the fluorescence range of nitrogen, 300-400nm.The detector efficiency degrades over time.

I was the lead teaching assistant for undergraduate physics labs and recitations. The labs and recitations covered algebra based and calculus based mechanics and electricity and magnetism. I was responsible for grading lab reports, homework, weekly recitation quizzes and midterms. I tutored weekly for all levels of undergraduate physics.

I assisted in instructing freshman level physics labs for engineers, covering mechanics and electricity and magnetism and grading of the weekly lab reports.

I worked on identifying the mass composition of High Energy Cosmic Rays using the Pierre Auger Observatory. I attempted to correlate the curvature of the air shower initiated by the primary cosmic ray to its mass composition. I became familiar with the ROOT data analysis framework, C++, Linux, and various plotting routines.

I studied carbon nanotubes and attempted to use electrophoresis methods to align single nanotubes across a gap in a substrate and measure their electrical properties. I also learned various growth techniques for carbon nanotubes including chemical vapor deposition and puled laser deposition. With these growth techniques I also became acquainted with high.
