Ulm, Germany: Contracted to assist in re-engineering the operations and maintenance system managing GSM equipment to also support 3G equipment. Responsible for detecting bottlenecks (approx 500 processes in the distributed system), designing/prototyping new CORBA interfaces/implementations. Required to identify Oracle DB performance bottlenecks/tweaks and re-engineering DB access code to be more efficient.

Swindon, England: Responsible for designing and implementing a TMF CORBA Interface from Lucent’s Wavestar SONET/SDH Element Management System (EMS). Designed/Implemented/Tested various components of the EMS. Identified a way to auto-generate a library of C++ database (Informix) access class’s that wrapped auto-generated c/esql Informix database access routines.

Dublin, Ireland and Stockholm, Sweden: I was Broadcom's project leader on a feasiblity study for a broadband project for Ericsson, Sweden. I presented the results of the feasibility study and contributed budget estimates for phase 2 of the project. I then lead a team that developed the prototype. I spent time onsite in Stockholm and at Ericsson's site at Swindon, England.

Dublin, Ireland and Stockholm, Sweden: Worked fulltime in the consultancy dept on a feasibility study for a fault management expert system for Ericsson Hewlett Packard Telecoms. Spent extended periods onsite in Stockholm and Gothenburg. The feasibility was successful and lead to the product being developed. Broadcom Eireann Research was a subsidiary of Ericsson and jointly owned by Eircom Ireland.

Required as part of MSc to assist lecturers by giving tutorials. I was responsible for grading 20% of the 4th years Computer Network's module that involved giving them a project to complete and correcting it.
