I’ve always enjoyed teaching, so much so that I originally planned to be a high school math teacher, and later pivoted to pursue a career in academia. During grad school, however, I realized my true passion was to apply my mathematical and statistical knowledge to solve complex, real-world problems.Lucky enough, while working on my dissertation, one of my committee members shared an internship opportunity as a data scientist with a nationally recognized market research firm. This was just what I was looking for, and after a few weeks applying what I learned directly to business problems, I never looked back.Every day in this field brings new and exciting challenges. Along the way, I’ve developed a wide array of statistical tools to provide consultation and data-driven solutions in the areas of pricing research, new product development, feature prioritization, and segmentation, to name a few.In my current role as VP of Decisions Sciences & Innovation, my original passion for teaching has become a reality. Each day I have the opportunity to share what I’ve learned in my career through professional development and training with my team and consultation with our clients. I have the best of both worlds – exercising creative problem solving for complex business problems and ongoing teaching opportunities, all through the lens of quantitative research.I welcome the opportunity to share my point of view on the best approach to tackle a tough quant problem or simply discuss my journey and experiences.
