Managing a team of scientists to evaluate diseases and novel therapeutic approaches from both internal and external sources. Support the preclinical development of therapeutics in collaboration with therapeutic modality expertise.2018 - 2021: Head of the Analytical, Biochemistry and Cell Biology Department in Research, member of the Scientific Leadership Team. Managed a team of scientist that provide disease related expertise and assay development in support of preclinical therapeutic development across therapeutic modalities – small molecules, biologics, and gene therapy for rare genetic diseases. 2013 - 2018: Leadership of the Biology group within the Drug Discovery Department. Managed a team of scientist that provide disease related expertise and assay development in support of preclinical therapeutic development of small molecule programs. Team specializes in the identification and measurement of the primary events in a disease cascade to develop biomarkers proximal to the genetic lesion and to the point of therapeutic intervention. Leverage the data from these biomarkers for efficient preclinical and clinical decision making.2013 - Managed the integration of the Zacharon scientific staff into the BioMarin organization – initially as an independent laboratory site and eventually relocating the group to San Rafael.
