The road to success may be a challenging journey, but the destination is worth it.I have longed to work in the hospitality industry since 2010. Originally majoring in Spanish Teacher Education at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, I decided to change my major to Restaurant Management and add a second major in Spanish. It was a decision that I have made a commitment to and one that I continue to enjoy. Working in the food service industry is my aspiration since I have plenty of family members and friends who taught me everything I know regarding culinary techniques. Several of my college classes including Menu Planning & Presentation along with Basic Food Techniques has expanded my horizons in the culinary field.My fluent Spanish has come into my life since the seventh grade in middle school. Having been awarded excellence in the Spanish language by the modern language department at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania, I continue to practice my fluency whenever the opportunity rises. Knowing that the industry I currently work in recommends employees to know at least one foreign language, it is vital for customers who speak languages other than English to communicate with bilingual employees. Utilizing the language in the workplace with employees and on occasion guests can certainly impress both groups in the workplace. I graduated from East Stroudsburg University in the Class of 2016, with two degrees: One in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Restaurant, and the other in Spanish.Once I obtain the necessary knowledge, skills and experience from working in the restaurant industry, I would like to improve more and move up.
