As a Chartered Financial Planner and a Pension Transfer Specialist (PTS), I have advised many individuals and busineses by reviewing their existing financial arrangements and investments. While working in the financial services sector, I have decided that there are a number of gaps that need to be addressed by financial services firms. These include advice gap, skills gap, training gap etc. I also thought that the existing software and the IT systems should be reviewed by people who can understand and critically evaluate both of those two sectors' needs, requirements and resources to improve the systems/software in use. IT/software systems may address some of the challenges businesses face, but they also bring risks, which have to be addressed. Some of the risks financial services firms face when using IT/software systems are: regulatory and compliance risk, data protection risk, cybersecurity risk etc.Hence, while working in the financial services sector, I continued learning and have recently obtained my business analysis and cybersecurity qualifications. I am currently learning Python programming language as well and I have recently created some financial calculators to be used by advisers.I am hoping to help those two sectors work together to address those gaps by designing better and innovative IT/software solutions so that financial services firms could provide better and cost-effective services to their clients and the wider UK public.I believe that these two sectors can work better together by employing people who can understand both of these sectors' stakeholders' needs and requirements and they can turn the needs and the requirements of firms in one sector into opportunities in the other sector.
