About Brian Armstrong
My career began as an Operations Auditor for a regional Retail chain when I often climbed on stockroom racks to audit inventory counts. I transitioned into the Manufacturing industry and achieved success in Supply Chain, Logistics and Operations. This is when I was the process-owner and was bringing use-cases to IT. It is also when I subsequently learned how to harness and implement technology to support business transformation and drive ROI. This marked a career move from the business to the technology side of the conversation with roles such as SAP Team Lead, BU CIO at Carrier, and VP Services at SAP. I planned, executed, consulted on, or led 100’s of transformation projects at well known companies. I did this in both the customer and partner role. I had my share of successful and difficult transformations where I gained valuable insights and lessons that have helped me look around corners, mitigate risks, and maximize ROI. My unique 360 degree perspective allowed me to begin seeing nine common threads across projects that were slow to mobilize, difficult & expensive to execute, and underachieved on outcomes. Today, I call them the nine Foundational Pillars of Success (aka the “FP9”) and I advise leadership on how to streamline and simplify their transformations through operationalizing the FP9. My background enables strong advocacy across the C-Suite positioning well-run Digital Transformations with significant ROI while minimizing disruption to day-to-day activities. In many cases, I help strengthen institutional courage by introducing a common process for dialog, execution, and assimilating the endless options of accelerators, tools and technologies pushed by your implementation partners.Few are surprised to see the FP9 below, but fewer yet have learned how to operationalize them: 1.
