I recently left Mission West Virginia, Inc. to explore new opportunities in the nonprofit and technology sectors. My goal is to find creative ways to merge these two areas of interest to leverage the efforts of nonprofits and small businesses to best serve their communities in West Virginia and the Appalachian region.

I spent nearly 21 years serving Mission West Virginia, Inc.., a statewide 501(c) 3 nonprofit started by then-Governor Cecil H. Underwood. I became Executive Director of the organization in 2010 after serving as Associate Director and Chief Technology Officer. My previous work also included serving as project manager for three federal and numerous privately-funded technology grants. Secured two additional federal grants but delegated program management to staff. Created program to establish 53 federally-funded computer labs in southern and north central WV as well as 256 additional computer labs statewide.Duties included managing a staff of up to 25 employees and fiscal management of an operational budget of more than $2.8 million annually. In additional to management duties, I have written federal, state and private foundation grants that secured $4.6 million in funding.The computer technology center model I created and implemented won MWV a Southern Growth Policy Board Innovator Award in 2006.My efforts included exploring new ways to use our as an intermediary capacity building organization to spread technology and training to West Virginians who desperately need this if they are to take their place in our developing information-based economy.Specialties: Recognized as a strong developer of collaborative partnerships involving existing community assets in mutually beneficial programs; a skilled and successful grant writer; a technology evangelist who easily relates new ways of incorporating cutting edge technologies to enhancement of job skills and rural economic development; an entrepreneur who believes there are no obstacles, only challenges.
