After wrapping up with Central Iowa Works, I stayed in-house on a contract with the United Way of Central Iowa to create a program and process for collecting/verifying applicable leads to receive donor-directed funding from local donors. The Director of Donor Services and I then implemented a system-wide program to streamline the contribution policy to align with UWCI's impact on the regions Education, Healthcare, and Income programs.

As a liaison for a public/private workforce development initiative, I spent a year in the AmeriCorps VISTA program building workforce partnerships in the Health Care and Financial Services sector. At Central Iowa Works, we connected job seekers working with Community Based Organizations to job training programs for career advancement opportunities and a path toward financial stability.

Community Corrections Improvement Association stepped in after much of the city of Cedar Rapids (and greater Iowa Area) was destroyed by floods in 2008. They provided an immediate hub for homeowners looking to receive assistance to thousands of volunteers looking to just plain help. I joined the organization as a field lead and spent the next year (in the AmeriCorps VISTA program) putting people back in homes. I brought empathy to homeowners and energy to an organization with more needs than people it could get to.In addition to managing volunteers in the field on restoration projects from muck and gut to handing over keys, I streamlined processes to connect potential volunteers with opportunities to help at scale. In my final project, I designed the process and managed volunteer groups to complete a study on the rebuild progress for 5,000+ damaged residential homes.
