I helped with the clinical diagnosis of the patients to be treated with Ayurvedic medicines. I shared my allopathic medicine to work with an Ayurvedic doctor to treat patients with chronic diseases not controlled by allopathic drugs like Muscular Dystrophy, psoriasis. I joined the hospital as it treated patients free of cost and I liked the idea of having a goshala(place where stranded cows are kept) to earn money, by selling milk and ghee, required to treat patients. The hospital had 45 in-patient beds and about 100 cows and was self sustaining enterprise. Also, with positive results with Ayurvedic medicine I started an electronic medical recording of patients to publish a study in future.I learnt the sense of community giving and also realized medical is far beyond just allopathy and there is an important need of collaborative approach for better health outcomes. I realized how diet and lifestyle modifications can be complimentary to the medicines.

I LEARNT DOCTOR-PATIENT RELATIONSHIP AND BEHAVIOR, HOW TO INTERACT SUCCESSFULLY IN A HOSPITAL AND, WORK INDEPENDENTLY AS WELL AS A PART OF EFFICIENT TEAM WHEN I WENT CLINICAL INTERNSHIP.I underwent clinical internship where my duties included assisting the physician attending during out-patient consult with patient vitals and writing patient history, diagnosis and prescriptions, assist residents during weekly 24-hour emergency day with patient vitals, ordering diagnostic test and labs and assisted residents for daily in-ward patient care, physician rounds and charting daily records.Working directly under and reporting to residents, learning from attending physicians and working daily alongside nurses, physiotherapist and other hospital staff taught me working successfully in teams.Was the ONLY primary care provider for 24 Hours weekly on-call days at a Community Health Center. The experience of being the only PCP taught me to make important decisions to treat patients better.It was a unique learning experience with nurses reporting to me and I have to report directly to residents.
