I developed a comprehensive current state understanding of the information systems and processes of a Department of Energy-funded National Laboratory. Working closely with technologists inside the ITS organization and laboratory technology users, I developed an understanding of what systems were in place at NREL and how they met the needs of end users. Then I developed innovative solutions that addressed needs of the organization, advanced the platform, and navigated a complex environment of federal regulations, cyber security requirements, and competing interests and objectives. I proposed data solutions and a strategy that addressed integration challenges and rose to meet the challenges of data increasingly scattered into SaaS and task-specific database solutions.

Responsible for overall management of a technology service delivery team, including a call center and network operations center delivering remote support and monitoring to more than 1,000 end users at more than 50 remote sites. I recruited and retained personnel, managed training and development, oversaw delivery against service level agreements, and set technical standards for the organization. I was additionally responsible for a capital budget, including determining purchasing plans and strategies, and setting long-term budget priorities.I designed and managed the deployment of an enterprise, multi-tenant environment built on Dell blade server and Equalogic storage technology that supported both the internal needs of Alerio, and our hosting environment leveraging VMware, and Microsoft Server System.I served as Chief Information Officer for Alerio clients, working with executive management to gain a comprehensive understanding of business objectives and needs, assessing current technology and developing and executing strategic technology plans to ensure systems meet business needs. I developed budgets and investment plans for technology, identify process improvements and solve problems mating technology solutions to the business process. Additionally, I served as project manager for network design, deployment and improvement projects that were developed in the CIO program or requested by customers. Overseeing complex projects including server systems, switching, routing, network security, telephony and premise security.

I served as the top IT executive of a Denver-based law firm, responsible for progressing the technology platform from one built on Novell technologies and a hosted email solution into a full-featured on-premise solution built on Microsoft technologies. Upon merging with a national law firm, I oversaw integration projects blending the environment into the national standards and then participated in the overall IT planning and strategy for an environment with more than twenty sites and more than 1,000 end users while continuing to manage local IT operations.
