Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager WA Iron Ore this FIFO role was responsible for the management reporting and governance of four mines.- Manage and develop the business analysis and reporting team (2 direct reports)- Prepare the 2-year budget, 5-year plan and quarterly forecasts for four mine sites- Provide an analytical review of the monthly results to the site GM’s and Iron Ore leadership team- Coordinate monthly cost reviews and cost reduction initiatives with the site leadership teams- Prepare half yearly briefing papers for joint venture partners- Provide governance, peer review and recommendations on capital project applicationsAchievements:- Established a solid relationship with the new GM of Whaleback and the NJV Leadership Team- Relentlessly pursued cost reductions at Eastern Ridge, in collaboration with the site leadership team, which resulted in the off hiring of external equipment saving in excess of $1m p.a.- Ensured the successful systems implementation of SAP (from JDE) for Eastern Ridge through engagement with stakeholders, data cleansing and mapping, UAT and user training. The project had an aggressive timetable of less than 9 months.

Reporting to the Finance Director Iron Ore Division this FIFO role was responsible for the finance, administration, camp and logistic functions of the mine site.- Manage and develop the Site Administration and the Accommodation & Logistics team (13 staff)- Management of contractors providing site services, catering, cleaning, bus services, and camp maintenance- Support the site General Manager by providing financial analysis of key operational drivers, such as dig rates etc., and identify and coordinate cost reduction projects- Prepare the project’s monthly contract valuation (including contract-to-complete accounting, rolling short term cost and cash flow forecasts, variance analysis, and contract risks, mitigation & opportunities)- Prepare the annual budget and 5-year strategic planAchievements:- Established the contract-to-complete forecast for the mine site through “buy in” and engagement with the site GM, Department Managers and site Engineers. The mine site was the first “go live” site to implement the in-house developed software.- Streamlined the Camp’s monthly reporting process from a 1-day process to 2 hours through gaining an understanding of the booking system (SAM) and their internal processes.

The HWE Mining Group consisted of 5 companies and 1 joint venture.Achievements:- Reduced the preparation time of the quarterly financial statements from 2 days to 4 hours through use and knowledge of Hyperion, JDE & Excel ODBC links resulting in improved quality and understanding of the accounts.
