Planned the post-acquisition technical integration: migrating hosting customers, integrating financial systems, and packaging the acquired products with WP Engine hosting. Integration plan was successfully completed within the negotiated integration period. Led the adoption of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) across WP Engine. Established the first engineering team to leverage SLOs and error budgets and evangelized their use across the organization. Served as the Product Manager for this team, delivering both a set of infrastructure management APIs and a set of internal tools for delivering highly reliable services.

Developed and delivered WP Engine's enterprise high availability (HA) platform, leveraging public cloud technology (AWS EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, and CloudFormation) as well as Open Source software (Terraform).Led a site performance team, identifying and resolving the key platform performance issues that were slowing sites on our platform. Tuned all parts of the stack: Linux OS, PHP, MySQL, Varnish, and Nginx.

As a platform software engineer, I was a hybrid of a software engineer and systems engineer. Developed a number of critical technologies that drove improved reliability and scaling, including: * A proprietary Nginx build to better handle large bursts of traffic and resolve issues caused by noisy neighbors and poorly behaved bots. The deployment of this technology saw an immediate 10-fold improvement in infrastructure-related downtime. * Pre-deployment "smoke testing" tooling, infrastructure, and tests. * Improvements to infrastructure management and inventory system, solving several O(n^2) issues that were plaguing platform performance. * Log data processing pipeline and usage reporting, driving millions of dollars of revenue in upgrades and overages.

General manager of SmartBear Software's Austin operations -- the CodeCollaborator product group. I oversee product management, development, technical support and marketing functions. Formerly, lead developer of the Jolt Award-winning code review tool, CodeCollaborator. Design and develop web front- and back-end of CodeCollaborator. Work with customers and other team members to define requirements and features.

Developed scientific applications using SciPy, primarily in the area of geophysics. Contributed to the design of the Chaco 2 plotting toolkit. Delivered a talk on Chaco at the 2005 SciPy conference.

Designed and implemented algorithms for efficiently comparing documents against a corpus of known documents with variable sensitivity. Applied these algorithms in a system for monitoring outbound communications to prevent leaks of sensitive information -- an email firewall.

Worked in the Distributed Systems Security group on IBM's implementation of Kerberos, IBM Network Authentication Service.
