Primrose Cogeneration Plant

Managed Joint Venture cogeneration power plant - GE Frame 7EA Gas Turbine at Primrose South CNRL site.Reported to the Joint Owners Committee (ATCO Power & CNRL).Responsible for the JV budgets & monthly financials, chaired JV Meetings, monthly operating reports, fuel & electric metering. Outage planning co-ordinated with CNRL Maintenance & Operations. Also managed LTSA on GTG with GE Contract Performance Manager.Looked after and tracked all Gas Turbine contract parts and non contract parts.

Valleyview

Was involved with the commissioning & operation of the Valleyview Generating Station from construction in 2001. I was Lead Operator in a 2 staff plant.Unit 1 is a GE LM 6000 Aeroderivative Gas Turbine (Jet) NOx water suppression & Enhanced Sprint. Unit had a SSS Clutch installed in 2002. Operated in Power or Synchronous Condense Mode.Plant is / was run as a peaking power station and had to remain 'available' to start and produce full load power from remote operation in under 10 minutes.Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant producing demin water for the NOx suppression & E-Sprint Operation in summer. Operated Wastewater treatment plant at site to process the waste water from the WTP.Looked after all plant office administration, contractor management & all plant Work Protection... All Health, Safety, Environmental & Security were managed and tracked at site.Fuel gas was filtered & regulated at site.Unit 2 construction in 2008. Was involved in construction & commissioning of 2nd GE LM6000 and a site Gas Compressor for boosting the site fuel gas pressure.

Battle River Generating Station

Started as an Assistant Steam Plant Operator in a 5 unit coal fired generating station in 1981.1 & 2 were Brown Boveri 30 - 32 MW Steam Turbine Generators built in the late '50's. Decommissioned in 2000.3 & 4 are GE steam turbines 150 - 155 MW respectively.Unit 5 was commissioned and went commercial in 1981, the year that I started at the BRGS.I progressed to Steam Plant Operator 1 and then to Steam Plant Operator 2. Later was promoted to an Operator 3 which was a Control Room Board Operator.I was involved in several projects over the years... Was involved in the Implementation of plants the Maintenance Management System. Computerized the plant operation training modules and managed the stations intranet.Overall operating responsibility of two 150 MW and one 400 MW pulverized coal fired thermal units from fuel handling into the plant; all water, steam and fuel processes; water treatment; and ash handling and disposal. Start-up/shutdown experience, training junior operators.
