Beat Grüninger is Partner of iWrc, senior technical advisor in the area of sustainability management for LRQA and FERSO ESG and trainer for GRI and other standards. After graduating in French Literature and Linguistics from the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and completing a postgraduate degree in Developing Countries at ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich), Beat worked at the Swiss Committee for UNICEF as communication officer. In 1998, he founded, together with other partners, BSD Consulting, one of the first sustainabilty consulting firms. Beat has been certified as Associate Sustainability Assurance Practitioner by AccountAbility, London, was member of the Standards Board of AccountAbility and trained by Social Accountability International as Lead Auditor SA8000. He has been acting for several years as a Consultant for Fairtrade and led as Local Manager a Transfair/USAID Responsible Sourcing Project in Brazil and recently a project to combat forced labor in the coffee sector financed by the US government. Beat is lecturer at FIA Business School on Social Standards and Sustainability Reporting. He is authorized representative of Social Accountability International (SAI) in Brazil. After the aquisition of BSD by ELEVATE, Beat acted as Senior Director for Sustainability Consulting for ELEVATE (aquired by LRQA in 2023) before joining iWrc as Manager of ESG Services.Beat has also acted representative of gebana ag in Brazil, a fair trade company he co-founded in order to realize sustainable trade of soybeans after having served on the board of the NGO gebana, a fair trade pioneer organization that initiated Fair trade with bananas.Specialties: Social Auditing, Assurance, Circular Economy, Fair trade, Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Consulting
