About Beatrice Spadacini

Communication is more than packaging content and making it look good (although appearances do matter!) It is about shifting perceptions, spurring action, and making change happen. For more than two decades, I have leveraged a range of communications tools to inform, empower and influence policy. As a strategic communicator and freelance journalist, I believe storytelling has the power to highlight our shared humanity and bridge our differences. I document stories of resilience that foster compassion and ignite action through blogs, magazine articles and podcasts. I also enjoy ghost writing for inspiring leaders and organizations that are on the frontline of social justice initiatives and bold approaches. Professionally, I have worked in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and East Africa. I can adapt easily and find common ground with diverse teams. In addition to English, I can work with ease in Italian, French, and Spanish. My academic background is in anthropology, journalism, international relations and public health. Curiosity about the world, service and an appetite for learning is what keeps me going. As does the practice of teaching yoga, breath work and mindfulness to children in elementary schools. These practices keep me grounded.Skills: Strategic communications, social justice advocacy campaigns, feature writing, podcasting, digital media promotions, public outreach/engagement, multimedia storytelling, media pitching.Issues: human rights, global health, public health, promoting equity and inclusion, international development, criminal justice, civic engagement, health and wellness.
