Radical Architecture Of The FuturePhaidon Jan 2020 - PresentLondon, England, United KingdomAuthor of 'Radical Architecture of the Future', January 2021. An important and fascinating collection of original projects by unique thinkers in the world of architecture and spatial design. Architectural practice today goes far beyond the design and construction of buildings — the most exciting, forward-thinking architecture is also found in digital landscapes, art, apps, films, installations, and virtual reality. This remarkable book features projects — surprising, beautiful, outrageous, and sometimes even frightening — that break rules and shatter boundaries. In this timely book, the work of award-winning architects, designers, artists, photographers, writers, filmmakers, and researchers — all of whom synthesize and reflect our spatial environments — comes together for the first time. -

Chief CuratorTrienal De Arquitectura De Lisboa Oct 2011 - Dec 2013LisbonThe third edition of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale will examine new forms and manifestations of contemporary spatial practice. The Triennale will provide a platform for emerging practitioners and protagonists whose work and interests are far from a traditional client-architect model. The exhibitions, conferences, talks and fringe events should introduce to the public, and also to architects, the immense and often unchartered cultural, political and aesthetic output known as ‘spatial practice’.Ambitious, experimental exhibitions and events curated by a team of new young international and Portuguese curators will articulate this expansive new field. Each exhibition will look at a different strand of experimental spatial practice and should be regarded as a platform for new practitioners who may come from different disciplines to test ideas and explore ways of curating and exhibiting this work. The Lisbon Triennale is a perfect platform for analyzing, exhibiting and pulling together these various strands and defining this new paradigm of spatial practice. By continuing its position as one of the most critical and ambitious events of its kind, the Triennale should provoke a conversation within Portugual that reaches onto an international stage. The exhibition will introduce architecture as a discipline that is not exclusive to professionals. It is a spatial practice that amongst others, artists, scientists, sociologists, anthropologists and designers are all dynamically and radically engaging with. -
CuratorHacked Milan Sep 2011 - Apr 2012MilanTo celebrate the world’s original design festival, Salone del Mobile, la Rinascente’s flagship store proudly presents ‘Hacked’. Over the course of 100 hours the store will be radically altered – inside and out – as it becomes an interactive experimental lab space. By collaborating with the most exciting young talents in design, la Rinascente invites everyone to ‘Come, explore and hack’. Following a contemporary concept of appropriation, alteration and transformation which goes through art, design, web and technology, “Hacked” is an experimental programme curated by Beatrice Galilee which includes live activities, events, installations, performances and workshops. Amongst the site-specific works by artists, architects and designers is a vast hack of la Rinascente’s colonnaded facade by Carmody Groarke and a flexible, expandable 'Hacked Lab' stage driven to Milan from Paris by EXYZT. The Hacked Lab programme is intended to provide a platform for young designers whose work exists outside of conventional exhibition-object parameters and crosses various disciplines. The events range from scientific workshops on how to make your own Large Hadron Collider to performances, downloadable buildings and astronauts selling moon dust. A programme of fleeting, yet arresting design events will take place at least three times a day, offering visitors interactive, visceral, playful, futuristic, scientific, choreographic, and informative, but always designed experiences.www.hackedmilan.it
