Research Environmental Scientist
Current- FOREIGN AGENCY SUPPORT. Review and advancement of an existing consultant registration system for the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD), United Arab Emirates (UAE). Evaluation of a wide range of environmental studies for EAD with respect to groundwater, soil, geological, and seismic issues. - FACILITY SITING. Nuclear facility site selection. Knowledge of facility siting concepts and applications. Familiar with establishing relevant siting criteria and screening steps within applicable regulatory and technical framework. Specific expertise in addressing geologic and seismic siting criteria. Experience in writing site selection documentation. - APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT. Development of SBS Discovery application, a Sustainable Business Solutions management tool. This application provides a decision-tree model that helps companies with the ranking and decision making of their idle properties. Liaison between programmers and environmental management staff. - SITE CHARACTERIZATION AND REMEDIATION. Experience in site characterization, preparation of groundwater monitoring reports and Mann-Kendall statistical analysis of environmental data. Transfer of borelog information into EQUIS Geology software. Familiar with vapor intrusion issues, and experienced in supporting the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) Vapor Intrusion workshops. - RISK ASSESSMENT. Experience in researching and compiling physical-chemical properties, site, source, dispersion, and biota data, and generating input databases for source and fate-and-transport modeling for multimedia, multipathway, human and ecological risk assessments.
