inViable is a creative scientific agency oriented toward technology design for sustainability and collective action.Our philosophy can be summarised in Life Cycle Thinking: Understanding the world as a complex ecosystem integrated by the biosphere, societies and cultures. Our main goal is to contribute toward the transformation of human behavior for a cooperative and sustainable future with imagination and resilience. We work on addressing the impact of human actions throughout their life cycle, to identify how we can act and improve processes, incorporating sustainability and cooperation in project design.We have created inViable to develop tools that can help and support the process of transformation of our actions, together with the actions of institutions and companies and the ways we organise ourselves and relate to them. http://www.inviable.is

The belief in the capacity of cultural interventions to promote greater awareness, participation and interaction, led me to promote the foundation of the association "Culturambiente" (Culturenvironment). It was created in 2009 by a multidisciplinary group (engineers, philosophers, architects, and semiotic experts, among others) moved by the firm conviction that life cycle thinking is the conceptual basis required to move the environmental agenda forward. Since then, we have been working together toward the implementation of cultural and educational programs of different magnitudes and scales designed to debate eco-social issues and their implications. With the challenge presented of building capacities and skills in a cost-efficient and effective way, Culturambiente supported the LC Initiative in preparing and launching the first e-learning module on "An Introduction to Life Cycle Thinking", available in a first moment in both English, Spanish, and further translated into French and Arabic.

In December 2018, the first female Principal of the University was elected. I was kindly invited to form part of the EPN dream of becoming an empowered and modern university, strong in research and social engagement by taking the lead in tackling the current challenges of the Ecuadorian society. In February 2019 I joined the administration team as an Advisor to the Principal and took responsibility for the integration of sustainability in strategic planning and resource mobilization, leading the Sustainable Campus Committee and connecting our work with national and international stakeholders. I accepted the commitment of contributing to the definition of the new institutional strategy with a full-time position for a period of one year. After this period, I went back to focus on my own personal projects in Culturambiente and inViable, but my collaboration with the University has continued in kind.

The overall goal of my role as Coordinator of Outreach and Community Engagement went beyond knowledge dissemination and research, by further engaging and reinforcing collaboration with external stakeholders (industry, communities, local and national government) to apply research outcomes into applicable technological and technical solutions capable of generating social impact, designed to support in turn the country´s development. In other words: involving all of the stakeholders and acknowledging the importance of joint efforts.

The responsibilities of the job were defined in the framework of Prometeo Project, an initiative of the Ecuadorian government that seeks to strengthen research, academy, and knowledge transference in specialized topics through the incorporation of experts in areas of priority. The National Institute of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (INER) was the host institution, with the overall goal to promote life cycle thinking and approach in the definition of sustainable policies on energy sector as well as to contribute to the transference of knowledge for the benefit of Ecuador in teaching, innovation, research, science, and technology.The following activities were established in favor of national development:-Develop and manage of the research project "Life Cycle Assessment of Ecuadorian Electricity Generation".-Transfer knowledge to national research and academic teams in the field of LCA-Head of the INER line of research "Energy efficiency on building sector", responsible for the management of related projects.-Foster the development of research networks and international cooperation-Promote the implementation of life cycle based approaches and decisions in public and private entities.-Support the review and publication of papers and books.-Publish the research’s results.-Organize workshops, seminars, and lectures.-Participate in the evaluation of research projects, programs, careers and assessment of Higher Education Institutions.

Scientific direction of the project and supervision of the ecosocial diagnostic in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Mozambique. Outline and definition of main theoretical and methodological issues in order to analyse the relation between environmental aspects and cultural dimension. Development of the final report (deliverable to the Spanish International Cooperation Agency).
