Hugh S. "Beau" Cummins III is vice chair and a member of Truist's executive leadership team. He oversees the corporate and investment banking, enterprise corporate and commercial real estate, wealth, wholesale payments, consumer finance, as well as corporate strategy including enterprise payments strategy, corporate development and Truist Ventures.He was named to his current position in September 2021, after serving as head of Truist's corporate and institutional group since 2019.Prior to the BB&T and SunTrust merger of equals, Cummins served as co-chief operating officer and wholesale segment executive at SunTrust, responsible for corporate and investment banking, commercial and business banking, treasury and payment solutions, and commercial real estate, as well as the enterprise efficiency office and procurement.From 2013 to 2017, Cummins served as SunTrust commercial and business banking executive, and from 2008 to 2013, he was chairman, president, and chief executive officer of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, the corporate and investment banking division of SunTrust.Before joining SunTrust in 2005 as head of debt capital markets, Cummins held several leadership positions at Bank of America after launching his investment banking career at Citibank.Cummins currently serves on the board of directors of Atrium Health Foundation and the Owen board of visitors at Vanderbilt University. He served as chairman of the World Affairs Council of Atlanta and was a two-term member of the Business Advisory Council at Miami University’s Farmer School of Business. He is a past member of the board of the SunTrust Foundation.Cummins earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
