ConsultantBpd Consulting Mar 2020 - Jul 2022I performed consulting services to a number of small and medium sized businesses throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The primary projects delivered during this timeframe include:(1) Industrial Air Compressor Company - I worked with the company's owners to modernize their software systems by analyzing their processes, prioritizing their software needs, researching dozens of potential solutions, scoring each option on a weighted matrix, and presenting top recommendations. Once ownership selected a software package, I was responsible for implementing the software in their office and with their field crews. I also migrated the company onto Quickbooks Online and worked with both software providers to link the two together.(2) Senior Living Housing Developer - I worked with the company's founder to formalize their novel approach to the senior living industry. I was responsible for studying the initial projects and creating a playbook for how to replicate the process and scale the business. I also modeled the company's financials and the financials of each deal, to easily assess each project for viability and profitability. I assisted in the diligence of a $12M acquisition of a similar business in another market, and structured financing options for their growth plan.(3) Large Scale Signage Manufacturer - I worked with a large and quickly growing manufacturer of custom signage to create internal processes and formalize best practices. I studied key processes, made recommendations for improvements, presented to the management team, and then implemented the chosen initiatives. I also developed their Human Resources strategy, hired a number of new employees, developed a training program for those employees, and personally ensured they had successful onboardings. I also helped the president and founder to analyze and execute a $2M real estate purchase, as well as assessed potential rollup acquisitions from $10-20M in enterprise value. -
Ceo And FounderEffortless Efficiency, Inc. May 2010 - Jun 2012Effortless Efficiency (EE) provides customers with a simple, effective, and affordable path to becoming energy efficient in their homes. EE sells whole-home energy upgrade packages, addressing the common causes of wasted energy. By reducing energy consumption, homeowners are able to lower their utility bills, reduce their impact on the environment, and live in safer and more comfortable homes. I was responsible for researching this blooming market in the Midwest, completing all business planning activities, and leading EE through its start-up phases. The company moved from conceptual to start-up phase in 2010, began generating revenues in early 2011, and started to scale throughout the Chicagoland market. While building EE, I also developed a consumer product called Heat Wrangler. This product uses the waste energy from inefficient water heaters (65% in existence) to pre-heat cold water before it enters the tank. I was responsible for managing the business planning process, corporate strategy, finance, and raising capital. Our team was able to build and test early prototypes with the help of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, and received commitments for sales through both the retail and tradesmen channels. -

Project is estimated to save the company $61.5M over the next 10 years. Performed due diligence for waste recycling program options, resulting in increased recycling from 7% to 64%, cost savings of $350k annually, and 3 LEED EB certification points. Managed consultants contracted by The Venetian to achieve EnergySTAR rating. -
Leader: Parenteral Operations MaintenanceEli Lilly Mar 2007 - May 2008Indianapolis, Indiana, UsI was responsible for managing eleven employees who perform critical maintenance activities supporting a parenteral (injectible) drug fill/finish-manufacturing site across three shifts. I was accountable for the safety of the employees on my team, the reliability of the equipment my team works on, and the safety, identity, strength, potency, and quality (SISPQ) of the products we make. I had to constantly balance competing priorities for my team, and made decisions daily that have impact on hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of product. My most significant challenge in this position was to provide clear direction and communication to all of my employees, who work on three separate shift schedules. I was able to accomplish this by implementing a work prioritization list, a communications marker board, and a weekly update via email. -
Leader: Parenteral Hvac EngineeringEli Lilly Mar 2006 - Mar 2007Indianapolis, Indiana, UsDuring this assignment, I was responsible for managing six engineers and engineering technicians who provided technical ownership of critical heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems supporting a parenteral (injectible) drug fill/finish-manufacturing site. These systems were required to operate continuously for six months at a time, and any downtime created significant loss of manufacturing time for the site. My most signification challenge in this position was to manage a team that I was promoted from within. I had to be strict and effective with close friends, and long-time coworkers. My key accomplishments are reducing critical downtime alarms by more than 200%, and managing a team of 20 employees to complete a $1M recapitalization project. -
Hvac Process EngineerEli Lilly Jun 2003 - Mar 2006Indianapolis, Indiana, UsThis was my initial assignment upon completing my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering. I was the technical expert and owner for ten critical heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems supporting a parenteral (injectible) drug fill/finish-manufacturing site. I was responsible for maintaining the qualified state of these systems, and for defending their acceptable state during regulatory agency audits. I was also expected to understand the strengths and deficiencies of the systems, and continuously improve these systems to provide best possible customer service.
