Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary is a non-profit organization started by my family in 1996 in our South Bronx Community. The mission of Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary is to promote the education of youth to conserve green spaces in urban areas. The space that Dred Scott Bird Sanctuary, now occupies was an “unofficial” waste disposal site behind our apartment building We began a family commitment to start cleaning up the lot.
