What would you do differently, if you could start your educational journey again? What might you be doing today?I work with disadvantaged students from Sub-Saharan Africa who have been specially selected for their big ideas that will have a positive social impact in their home countries. I am lucky enough to join these students on the first steps of their journey to achieving a world-class education and beyond.The journey starts with the selection of these brilliant students. I have overseen the screening of over 7000 applicants from 24 African countries. I have travelled extensively in Africa to interview and select these students. I work very closely with every student that we select in order to facilitate the development of their personal goals which will determine which subject they will study, in which country and university. I have also been instrumental in designing and implementing a worldwide student support and mentoring network and a pan African professional network of internship and employment opportunities. I have also completed intern and staff recruitment and training and currently manage 8 local agents that represent Ashinaga in 7 countries in Africa. I also support student visa applications to Australia, Canada, the UK and Ireland with over 25 students successfully receiving a visa with my help. I am an extremely social individual and pin a large amount of the AAI's success on our ability to work together as a social organisation. We rely heavily on communities of practice to help each other learn and excel. I strongly subscribe to the habitus of the organisation, namely, having and fostering global perspectives and paying forward the kindness I have received to others.
