Beau T. Email and Phone Number
Since graduating, I've worked consistently as a freelancer: coaching accents to actors, presenters and speechmakers; and coaching Voice Acting technique to actors wanting to explore that avenue. My work has given me the chance to work with numerous actors from a huge range of backgrounds, coaching for shows at the National Theatre and the RSC, on Netflix, Amazon and Disney Plus, and for feature films. My more permanent positions have seen me teaching at renowned institutions such as the Institute of Arts Barcelona, where I was a Voice and Dialect lecturer from Sep 22 - Dec 23. Here I tought three years of BA actors and BA Musical Theatre Students, as well as teaching on MA courses in Acting and MT. The experience was hugely enriching, largely due to the diversity of background and experience that the student cohort had. I have also taught accents at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and Bath Spa University.Whilst many coaches find an accent to specialise in, I have made my speciality my diversity. My friends and colleagues will tell you that I store accent information in an extensive mental database, and can as such tackle any accent with authenticity and understanding. My own career as a Voiceover Artist (McDonalds, AT&T, NHS, National Rail, Redbull, HollandAmerica) has informed my coaching, and allows me to give a modern, practical and informed perspective on the contemporary industry in this Post-Covid, AI addled world where VO seems to be changing and evolving every day.

Voice ActorFreelance Sep 2019 - PresentSince 2019, I have worked as a Voice Actor, Narrator and VO Artist. Whilst at University, I began looking for paid acting work of any sort, and stumbled upon some auditions for audiobooks. Fortuitously, I was awarded a position in the first one I auditioned for - the narration of a series of academic essays (in an Australian accent).Armed with my education in acting and a passion for the industry, I was reeled in by Voice Acting and began to pursue more and more VO auditions. Overcoming the initial challenges was difficult - learning to produce audio to industry standard is no mean feat, and applying stage-acting education to the recorded context takes some adjustment. Nevertheless, I booked more and more audiobooks - fiction and nonfiction - and began finding additional work in audio dramas, animation, video games and advertising. Since then, I have built my own professional standard sound booth in my home studio. I have worked with large companies on ad-campaigns and e-learning, whilst still flexing my creative muscles by working on narrative, character lead projects. As a voiceover, my selling point is my versatility. My theatrical training and skill with accents and tone allows me to create distinct and varied voices that feel lived-in and authentic.

Voice And Accent CoachInstitute Of The Arts Barcelona Sep 2022 - Dec 2023I was a Voice and Accent teacher at the Institute of Arts Barcelona for over a year, living in Sitges and working with an immensely diverse and talented student body (150 students and over 60 different nationalities) on perfecting voice and actor work as part of the BA Acting, BA Muscial Theatre, MA Acting and MA Musical Theatre degrees. The work was conducted in English, but students came from all around the world for a British-style drama school, meaning that students from India, Australia, the Philippines and the USA, were sharing experiences with students from Spain, France, Portugal and Italy. As a teacher, particularly one of accents, this presented a unique challenge - bringing students from dozens of different language backgrounds to the same accent for assessment or performance. I found this challenge incredibly enriching: I learned so much about the language and cultural backgrounds of all of the students, and how that impacted accent learning in english. I also learned an enormous amount about how to coach accents to groups of vastly varying skill levels (some students were much stronger with English than others). It was also enriching in another, slightly more selfish way. Being exposed to the sheer number of accents that the students had vastly imrpoved my own mental database of accents, allowing me to greater understand the complex geo-socio-linguistic factors that contribute to the way people speak in English. In that sense, I have an integrated and ingrained experience of multiple second-language accents that I may not have been able to find working in a Drama School in the UK.
