As a member of the Dorset, Hampshire & Isle of Wight team I actively contribute to the management of European Marine Sites, including co-ordinating the Improvement Plan for England’s Natura 2000 (N2K) Sites (IPENS) project locally and the production of Conservation Advice packages, including supporting the project at a national level.Provision of statutory advice to the regulator for relevant marine licence applications in my area, in line with relevant legislation (incl. the Habitats Regulations).Support the work of the local Fisheries Lead and work with key partners (i.e. the Southern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority) and stakeholders.Project Officer for N2K monitoring projects within my area, including liaising with contractors and ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables.Project Management and Learning & Development Lead for my team, including the provision of Project Management training and organising knowledge sharing and training events.

Contracts included work as a proof-reader on the book ‘Ocean of Life’ for Professor Callum Roberts (University of York) and desk-based research and report writing for the Oceans Campaign at Greenpeace International.

The main aim of the research was to develop a cognitive touch screen test in rodents, equivalent to human cognitive tasks such as CANTAB, with particular emphasis on the characterisation of rodent models of Huntington’s disease.Duties included collection and collation of data, statistical analysis and presentation of results, working autonomously as part of a multi-disciplinary team striving to solve a major medical problem.Excellent time management and organisational skills and a flexible approach were imperative to the achievement of project milestones in a timely manner.
