The SECU Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization funded by the contributions of SECU members, to help identify and address community issues and promote local and community development in North Carolina primarily through high impact projects in the areas of education, housing, healthcare and human services. I started at the Foundation as a program officer, supporting SECU's scholarship and educational programs including the People Helping People high school and community college scholarships, the Bridge to Career continuing education program, and the SECU Public Fellows Internship program. I also help support with grant proposal review preparation and community outreach across the state. As engagement officer, I support outreach and engagement efforts with grantees and partners, engage the Board of Directors in events and opportunities, plan and facilitate events hosted by the Foundation, and collaborate with marketing and communications to share the Foundation's story and impact.

Teach courses through UNC's Gillings School of Global Public Health, department of Health Behavior. HBEH 611: Philanthropy as a Tool for Social Change and HBEH 609: Leadership for Alternative Breaks

Provide program support and planning for several student programs within the Carolina Center for Public Service including: APPLES Service Learning Courses and Internships, Alternative Breaks, the Service Learning Initiative, and the MacDonald Scholars Program. Assist with other programs as needed including course development grants, the course development institute, and the Buckley Public Service Scholars Program. Created and currently teach a course on student leadership to alternative break leaders. Co-teach a course on philanthropy as a tool for social change.

Coordinating service and leadership initiatives at Lynn University. Co-created the Lynn Leadership Institute, a 3-4 year commitment to leadership development with a focus on social change and community organization. Developing and executing an Emerging Leaders Program for students, assisting with staff training for peer mentors (orientation leaders) and residence life staff, serving as a staff mentor for a group of new students, planning alternative service break experiences, connecting students with service opportunities in the community. Represent Lynn as a cluster facilitator for Leadershape South Florida and through Florida Campus Compact. Developed a multicultural competence training for all new students. Implemented academic leadership certificate in a College of Education course. Served as a conference director and peer leader trainer when Lynn University hosted the Millennium Campus Conference in 2014. Created partnerships and service experiences for Alternative Spring Break and a new Alternative Fall Break, working with organizations including Metropolitan Ministries in Tampa, FL and Habitat for Humanity of Key West and the Lower Keys.

Supported the Leadership in Action (LIA) Program, a four-year leadership and service program with up to 200 participants. Served as Interim Program Director for LIA; advising, overseeing budget of $4000, curriculum development, and programming. Advised LIA student director and officers, support students through service hour requirement by assisting with volunteer placement, facilitate retreats for each class, and present workshops on mentoring, servant leadership, and leading with vision.Additional responsibilities included: advising the Campus Pals youth mentoring program, co-coordinating the Stop Hunger Now Meal Packaging event in November 2012; including recruiting volunteers, fundraising to meet goal of over $30,000 and planning event to package 125,000 meals, advising the Alternative Service Break (ASB) Trip to the Dominican Republic working with Outreach 360- a community and orphanage outreach program, and assisting center staff with planning events, coordinating logistics, updating weekly newsletter, and supporting various students in their leadership and service endeavors.

Coordinated project to update employee information database.Critiqued resumes and conducted mock interviews for students.Facilitated professional skills workshops on topics including networking, interviewing, and resume writing.Assisted with resume review days, employer fairs, open houses, and other events as requested.

Worked to place student volunteers at local community organizations and coordinated service events on campus. Planned and coordinated events on campus and in the community. Helped draft an academic service learning policy which was adopted in Nov. 2010. Coordinated a service scholarship program for approximately 30 students. Served on campus committees including Teaching Fellows Advisory Board and faculty/staff support for Freshmen Seminar and Core curriculum. Planned and advised an alternative spring break trip to Washington DC with a focus on inner-city hunger and homelessness. Assisted with planning and advised a Teaching Fellows Study Tour to Dublin, Ireland. Attended professional development opportunities including PACE Conference and Civic Engagement Institute (NC Campus Compact), VISTA retreats and regional meetings with Compact members. Participated in Grant CREWS grant-writing workshop in Hickory, Sept. 2010.

I helped with a direct mail marketing project including editing and packaging video testimonials to be sent to potential clients. I also contributed to several internal marketing projects, product development for leadership workshop guides, and updated and organized client databases.

Student liaison for organization development and orientation. Helped design and create the 2007 Leadership Review Brochure. Organization of information for First Year Summer Experiences and ODK applicants.

Assisted with planning and execution of Elon Homecoming 2008, updating database of alumni, designing campus signage for Elon Homecoming, cataloguing and organizing past Elon magazine issues.

I assisted Linda Staunch and Associates with the coordinating and planning of events surrounding the 300th Anniversary of New Bern, NC, which is currently taking place in 2010. My position included creative thinking, logistical planning, research and communication with event sponsors.

Assisted with guest check in and check out, answering phones, front desk organization.
