I joined shortly after inception after responding to their search for help. The charity was created by a mum of a premature baby whom couldn't find a way to dress her daughter whilst in NICU, Together with a friend, they designed an adapted baby grow with poppers which allowed parents to experience dressing their child, despite medical equipment, something not readily available at that time. After local media coverage, and local demand, the friend began to handmake adaptions to supplied baby grows. Shortly after, demand grew to other areas of the UK, leading to overwhelm where the friend could no longer keep up with the home adaption. We sourced a UK manufacturer and as well as the grows, we were able to produce an extra pack containing other adapted dressing items a "normal" baby would have, such as hats, cardigans/wraps, pants, bibs etc. We were receiving hundreds of pack requests from parents, relatives, friends and referrals from midwives (who also suggested pitching to the NICU managers to initiate a stock level). Each pack was collated and packaged by hand and all items were provided free of charge. As the charity ran on donations, the development of the charity was held up by funds but eventually after enlisting voluntary area representatives we were able to get a supply to some NICU units and accelerate dispatch. The adaptions were then requested on older children's clothing to allow for various intravenous lines etc but these were mainly bespoke so the charity was limited to supply. The charity had great success and the role ended for me when the charity had become too big for me to manage internally and within the new compliance requiring authorised charity accountants etc. I kept in touch with the charity for a while, until a change in management.
