I was responsible for a full RCVS inspection of the five branches. Ensuring all five branches were up to standard. Carrying out all necessary work and as a result all branches passed the inspection (this took a three month period). Monthly rotas for the whole company (five branches of both vets and nurses).Monitoring and approving holiday requests and allowances.First point of contact for sickness of staff, and rotating staff to cover where necessary.Ensure all branches cleanliness and hygiene is kept to high standards.Carry out monthly mock RCVS inspections.Monitor controlled drug registers in all branches.Train auxiliary nurses in anaesthetics.Organise bi-monthly CPD for nurses.Respond to queries from nurses and keep practice manager informed.Be available for vets to approach with any concerns regarding nurses within the company.Contact person for Abbeydale Vetlink Veterinary Training.Put forward any potential trainee nurses for full training.General nursing duties which also included carrying out Schedule 2 procedures.Maintaining daily branch targets.Monitoring stock levels and responsibility for drugs spend, ensuring spend was kept within budget.Maintaining branch cleanliness.Day to day running of branch – ensuring correct amount of operations/appointments are booked. Being in charge of the laboratory machines and stock, maintaining/ cleaning them and training staff on their use. Dealing with any issues with the machinery, whether this was user fault or a fault of the machine. I worked competently in all areas of the practice. Monitoring animals whilst in the MRI suite and being able to stay calm in an emergency situation. Monitoring; being the scrub nurse or the assistant in theatre; assisting the Vet with endoscopy or monitoring the patient and also for radiography and ultrasound. I am Competent in positioning simple views for radiography. My management of time and resources were effective. Balancing the care patients need dependent on their requirement, eg. Chemotherapy patients - careful monitoring; spinal patients - consider rehabilitation, massage, physiotherapy and bladder expressing; patients with brain tumours or seizure – vigilant monitoring. I am competent at handling and caring for all types of patients and have worked through the night to care for them when necessary. Covering some reception work if required - answering the phones, receiving and booking in clients, taking referrals and speaking to insurance companies and processing claim forms.
