Lead development on Dremio's SQL query acceleration technology which is based on materialized views in Apache Iceberg storage and algorithms for relational query tree matching and cost based optimization. Subject matter expert on Dremio Reflections providing engineering support across the company and to community members and social events. Working on very interesting problems such as running fault tolerant distributed query systems in the cloud, reflection query rewrite and management with Nessie catalog and integration with Apache Iceberg open table format.I particularly enjoy building observability into the query and planning pipelines and using customer telemetry to guide product development.

Architected the multi-dimensional OLAP analysis tools used by thousands of Pentaho's enterprise BI customers. Implemented query rewrite optimizations in SQL and MDX query engines to pushdown filters, joins and aggregations into JDBC source connectors. Key contributor to the open source Java OLAP server Mondrian. Led development of the visualization layer including dashboards and ad-hoc slice and dice UI. Built tools to streamline ETL to OLAP model creation.

Built an offshore team for SignalDemand and PROS (NYSE:PRO) developing machine learning software for demand forecasting and supply chain optimization in the food industry. Recruited, trained and managed engineers for Java development, Informatica ETL development, software testing and customer support. In addition to general management, I also played many roles including developer, architect, technical product manager, release manager and contract negotiator.

We were the first company to successfully build and provision cloud data warehouses before K8s, AWS, GCP or Azure cloud services was even a thing. I managed engineering teams in the US and China that built the UI and all backend services that sat on top of the data warehouse.

Led a small team that worked on the marketing segmentation engine within OBIEE and the real-time decisions integration with Siebel Marketing CRM.
