I am a mobile librarian and musician based in Athens working mainly in English and Arabic but also in Farsi, French and now some Greek, with basic Spanish and Italian. I have been working in solidarity with migrants and refugees since 2017. My interests which feature in various capacities in my daily life include history, particularly subaltern, middle-eastern and women, also literature and poetry (hence the library). I have also attended workshops looking at the theatre of the oppressed and theatre of cruelty.Along with this I perform in various ensembles playing the violin/fiddle, oud and voice. I focus mainly on traditional musics, but am starting to experiment a little with the world of electronics. I support youth music programme Ethno in Palestine, as well as projects in Athens.I was selected as one of 10 artists in residence in Cordoba for the period April-June 2022 for my project Searching for Lubna, whereby I researched the life of this little-known woman from 10th century Cordoba and composed music inspired by what I discovered.
