Senior Project Accountant
As a Senior Project Accountant at Hardin Construction I was responsible for hiring several Project Accountants and had multiple direct reports. I trained our team on all phases of project accounting from project setup to project closeout. My involvement in Joint Venture projects was increased and I developed and maintained many of the accounting and cash management processes for the JV's which have become the standard at Hardin. I assisted in the developement, implementation and training of a new imaging system for invoice and subcontract management. I was promoted to lead a team of three accountants on a prominent $250M joint venture project. The project was funded by both public and private dollars and required MBE/DBE participation. Additionally, I hired and led our accounts payable clerk. I stabilized the tense relationship between the developer's representatives and the accounting team on a difficult project. I completed multiple accounting audits prepared by the owner's accounting staff.Hardin Construction had a complete software conversion in 2001, moving from a DOS based system to a Windows based system, maintained by an Oracle database. In preparation for this conversion, I detailed all Project Accounting processes and procedures. After the conversion I trained the accounting staff how to navigate through and implement the new software. I refined our process for tracking second tier releases to decrease the lien risk presented by entities who did not have direct contracts with Hardin Construction.
Project Accountant
I created and transmitted actual cost and percentage complete billings for projects of $150M and prepared the monthly job cost to billings reconciliations. I obtained and processed subcontractor pay applications with lien releases and worked directly with subcontractors to prepare their documents as needed.I processed Accounts Payable invoices, 300-600 per month, including the veification of invoices submitted against purchase contracts for terms and pricing. I entered hourly payroll for multiple employees on multiple jobs.
